耶和华的话临到耶利米说，
从主来到耶瑞米亚那里的话，说，
耶和华的话临到耶利米说：
The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

你起来，下到窑匠的家里去，我在那里要使你听我的话。
你起来，下到陶匠的家去，我要使你到那里去听我的话。
“你起来，下到窑匠的家里去，我在那里要使你听我的话。”
Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
3
我就下到窑匠的家里去，正遇他转轮作器皿。
于是我就下到陶匠的家去，看啊，他在转轮上做了一个工作。
我就下到窑匠的家里去，正遇他转轮做器皿。
Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
4
窑匠用泥作的器皿，在他手中作坏了，他又用这泥另作别的器皿；窑匠看怎样好，就怎样作。
陶匠用粘土造的器皿，在他手里损坏了；所以他再次用这泥另造别的器皿，陶匠看怎么好，就怎么造。
窑匠用泥做的器皿，在他手中做坏了，他又用这泥另做别的器皿；窑匠看怎样好，就怎样做。
And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

耶和华的话就临到我说，
于是主的话就来到我这里说，
耶和华的话就临到我说：
Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

耶和华说，以色列家啊，我待你们，难道不能照这窑匠弄泥吗？以色列家啊，看啊，泥在窑匠的手中怎样，你们在我的手中也怎样。
主说，以色列家啊，我待你们，难道不能像这陶匠吗？以色列家啊，看啊，粘土在陶匠的手里怎样，你们在我的手里也怎样。
“耶和华说：以色列家啊，我待你们，岂不能照这窑匠弄泥吗？以色列家啊，泥在窑匠的手中怎样，你们在我的手中也怎样。
O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

我何时关于一邦和一国说，要拔出、拆毁、毁坏；
我在什么时候关于一个国家和一个王国会说，去拔起来，去推倒，去毁灭它；
我何时论到一邦或一国说，要拔出、拆毁、毁坏；
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

我所说的那一邦，若是转意离开他们的恶，我就必后悔，不将我想要施行的灾祸降与他们。
我针对他们宣告的那国家，如果转离他们的坏事，我就会后悔，不把我想要做的坏事做在他们身上。
我所说的那一邦，若是转意离开他们的恶，我就必后悔，不将我想要施行的灾祸降与他们。
If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

我何时关于一邦和一国说，要建立、栽植；
我在什么时候关于一个国家和一个王国会说，去建造又去栽植；
我何时论到一邦或一国说，要建立、栽植；
And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10
他们若行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的声音，我就必后悔，不将我所说的福气给他们。
如果它在我眼里做坏事，它不听从我的声音，那么我就会后悔这好事，不把我说的利益给他们。
他们若行我眼中看为恶的事，不听从我的话，我就必后悔，不将我所说的福气赐给他们。
If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

现在你要对犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民说，耶和华如此说，看啊，我造出灾祸攻击你们，定意刑罚你们。你们各人当回头离开所行的恶道，改正你们的行动作为。
因此，现在你要对犹大众人和耶路撒冷的居民说，主这样说；看啊，我制定坏事针对你们，并策划了一个针对你们的计谋；你们各人要回头转离你们的坏道路，并使你们的道路和你们的做法都是好的。
现在你要对犹大人和耶路撒冷的居民说：‘耶和华如此说：我造出灾祸攻击你们，定意刑罚你们。你们各人当回头离开所行的恶道，改正你们的行动作为。’
Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.

他们却说，这没有指望。我们要照自己的计谋去行。各人随自己妄想的恶心作事。
他们说，没有希望；但我们要跟从我们自己的计谋，我们每个人都要照着他的坏心的想象去做。
“他们却说：‘这是枉然。我们要照自己的计谋去行，各人随自己顽梗的恶心做事。’”
And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.

所以，耶和华如此说，你们去外邦中问问，有谁听见这样的事？以色列童女行了一件极可憎恶的事。
因此，主这样说；你们现在去异教徒当中问，谁听过这样的事；以色列的处女做了一件惊恐的事。
“所以，耶和华如此说：你们且往各国访问，有谁听见这样的事？以色列民（原文是处女）行了一件极可憎恶的事。
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.

黎巴嫩的雪从田野的磐石流下，人怎能离弃？从别处流下的凉水怎能撇下呢？
一个人会离开来自黎巴嫩的田野的岩石中的雪吗？或者，会离开来自别的地方的凉水吗？
黎巴嫩的雪从田野的磐石上岂能断绝呢？从远处流下的凉水岂能干涸呢？
Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?

因为我的百姓竟忘记我，向假神烧香，使他们在所行的路上，在古道上绊跌，使他们行没有修筑的路，
因为我的人民已经忘了我，他们向虚空烧香，又使他们在自己的道路上，就是古老的众小径上绊倒，在众小径里走路，在一条没有铸就的路上；
我的百姓竟忘记我，向假神烧香，使他们在所行的路上，在古道上绊跌，使他们行没有修筑的斜路，
Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;

以致他们的地变为荒凉，常常嗤笑；凡经过这地的必惊讶摇头。
使他们的土地荒凉，并永久嘶笑；每个经过这地的人都会又惊讶又摇头。
以致他们的地令人惊骇，常常嗤笑；凡经过这地的必惊骇摇头。
To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
17
我必在仇敌面前分散他们，好像用东风吹散一样。遭难的日子，我必以背向他们，不以面向他们。
我要在敌人面前像用东风一样驱散他们，好；在他们遭难的那天里，我会背对他们，不是脸对他们。
我必在仇敌面前分散他们，好像用东风吹散一样。遭难的日子，我必以背向他们，不以面向他们。”
I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

他们就说，来吧。我们可以设计谋害耶利米；因为我们有祭司讲律法，智慧人设谋略，先知说预言，都不能断绝。来吧。我们可以用舌头击打他，不要留意他的一切话。
于是他们说，来吧，让我们策划针对耶瑞米亚的计谋；因为法律不会离开祭司而灭亡，建议不会离开智者，话也不会离开预言者。来吧，让我们用舌头猛击他，让我们不要留意他的一切话。
他们就说：“来吧！我们可以设计谋害耶利米；因为我们有祭司讲律法，智慧人设谋略，先知说预言，都不能断绝。来吧！我们可以用舌头击打他，不要理会他的一切话。”
Then said they, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

耶和华啊，求你留意我，并且听那些与我争吵之人的声音。
主啊，你留意我，听取那些与我争吵的人的声音。
耶和华啊，求你理会我，且听那些与我争竞之人的话。
Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20
怎可以恶报善呢？他们竟挖坑要害我的魂。求你记念我怎样站在你面前为他们说好话，要使你的愤怒向他们转消。
会以坏报好吗？因为他们已经挖了一个坑要得到我的魂。记得我站在你面前为他们说好话，为要使你的怒火从他们转离。
岂可以恶报善呢？他们竟挖坑要害我的性命！求你记念我怎样站在你面前为他们代求，要使你的忿怒向他们转消。
Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
21
因此，愿你将他们的儿女交给饥荒，用刀剑倾他们的血；愿他们的妻无子，并且作寡妇；又愿他们的男人被死亡所灭，他们的少年人在阵上被剑击杀。
因此，把他们的孩子们交给饥荒，借剑的武力倒出他们的血；并让他们的妻子们失去孩子，成为寡妇；又让他们的男人们被处死；让他们的年轻人们在战斗中被剑杀死。
故此，愿你将他们的儿女交与饥荒和刀剑；愿他们的妻无子，且作寡妇；又愿他们的男人被死亡所灭，他们的少年人在阵上被刀击杀。
Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22
你使敌军忽然临到他们的时候，愿人听见哀声从他们的屋内发出；因他们挖坑要抓我，暗设网罗要绊我的脚。
当你忽然把一支部队带到他们身上的时候，让一阵哭喊从他们家里被听到；因他们挖了一个坑要抓我，并隐藏网罗要绊我的脚。
你使敌军忽然临到他们的时候，愿人听见哀声从他们的屋内发出；因他们挖坑要捉拿我，暗设网罗要绊我的脚。
Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23
耶和华啊，他们要杀我的那一切计谋，你都知道。不要原谅他们的罪孽，也不要从你眼前涂抹他们的罪恶，要叫他们在你面前跌倒；愿你发怒的时候罚办他们。
然而，主，你知道他们针对我要杀我的所有建议；不要原谅他们的罪过，也不要从你的视野中涂掉他们的罪，而是让他们在你面前被推倒；在你气愤的时候这样对待他们吧。
耶和华啊，他们要杀我的那一切计谋，你都知道。不要赦免他们的罪孽，也不要从你面前涂抹他们的罪恶，要叫他们在你面前跌倒；愿你发怒的时候罚办他们。
Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.
