Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,

智慧人怎可发出虚空的知识，用东风充满肚子呢？
一个智慧的人会发出虚空的知识，并用东风充满他的肚子吗？
“智慧人岂可用虚空的知识回答，用东风充满肚腹呢？
Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?

他怎可用无益的话和无用的言语理论呢？
他会用无益的谈话来解释？或者用对他没有好处的讲论来解释？
他岂可用无益的话和无济于事的言语理论呢？
Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?

是的，你废弃了畏惧，在神面前禁止祷告。
是的，你丢掉了畏惧，又在神面前禁止祷告。
你是废弃敬畏的意，在 神面前阻止敬虔的心。
Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.

你的口吐出自己的罪孽；你选择诡诈人的舌头。
因你的口吐出自己的罪过，并且你选择了诡诈者的舌头。
你的罪孽指教你的口；你选用诡诈人的舌头。
For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

你自己的嘴定你有罪，并非是我；你自己的唇见证你的不是。
你自己的嘴刑罚你，不是我；是的，你自己的唇指证你。
你自己的口定你有罪，并非是我；你自己的嘴见证你的不是。
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.

你难道是头一个被生的人吗？你被造在众山之前吗？
你是第一个生下来的人？或者你在众山丘之前被造？
“你岂是头一个被生的人吗？你受造在诸山之先吗？
Art thou the first man that was born? or wast thou made before the hills?

你曾听见神的秘密吗？你难道能留下智慧只给你自己吗？
你曾听见神的秘密？你能限制智慧只给你自己？
你曾听见 神的密旨吗？你还将智慧独自得尽吗？
Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?

你知道什么是我们不知道的呢？你明白什么是我们不明白的呢？
什么是你知道，而我们不知道的？什么是你明白，而我们不明白的？
你知道什么是我们不知道的呢？你明白什么是我们不明白的呢？
What knowest thou, that we know not? what understandest thou, which is not in us?

我们这里有白发的和年纪老迈的，比你父亲还老。
和我们在一起的有白发的和非常年老的，比你的父亲还老很多。
我们这里有白发的和年纪老迈的，比你父亲还老。
With us are both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.

神的安慰，你以为太小吗？你有什么秘密的事吗？
神的安慰在你这里还小？你这里还有什么秘密的事？
神用温和的话安慰你，你以为太小吗？
Are the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?

你的心为什么将你带走？你的眼无视什么？
为什么你的心把你带走了？你在对什么使眼色？
你的心为何将你逼去？你的眼为何冒出火星，
Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,

使你的灵反对神，也任你的口发这言语？
让你的灵针对神，并让这样的话语从你嘴里出来？
使你的灵反对 神，也任你的口发这言语？
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth?

人是什么，竟算为洁净呢？女人所生的是什么，竟算为义呢？
人是什么，他能被洁净？一个女人生的是什么，他能为义？
人是什么，竟算为洁净呢？妇人所生的是什么，竟算为义呢？
What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

看，他不信靠他的圣徒们；在他看来，诸天也不洁净，
看啊，他不信靠他的圣徒们；是的，在他眼里，众天也不洁净。
神不信靠他的众圣者；在他眼前，天也不洁净，
Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

何况那污秽可憎、喝罪孽如水的人呢！
更何况那污秽可憎喝罪过就像喝水的人？
何况那污秽可憎、喝罪孽如水的世人呢！
How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

我指示你，听我；我要述说所看见的，
我来显给你，要听我；我要表明我见到的；
“我指示你，你要听；我要述说所看见的，
I will shew thee, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

就是智慧人从他们父辈所告知，没有隐瞒的。
就是从智慧人的父辈告诉他们的，并没有隐瞒；
就是智慧人从列祖所受，传说而不隐瞒的。
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it:

这地唯独给他们，并没有外人从他们中间经过。
这地只给了他们，并且没有外人从他们当中经过。
这地惟独赐给他们，并没有外人从他们中间经过。
Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
- 20
恶人一生之日阵痛、痛苦，暴虐的人一生的年数也被隐藏。
邪恶的人一生的日子都有阵痛，年岁的数目对欺压者是隐藏的。
恶人一生之日劬劳痛苦；强暴人一生的年数也是如此。
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.

可恐惧的声音常在他耳中；在亨通时，行毁坏的必临到他那里
一个可畏的声音在他耳中；在兴旺时，毁灭者要来到他身上。
惊吓的声音常在他耳中；在平安时，抢夺的必临到他那里。
A dreadful sound is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.

他不信自己能从黑暗中转回；他被刀剑等候。
他不信自己会从黑暗中返回，他被剑等候着。
他不信自己能从黑暗中转回；他被刀剑等候。
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

他漂流在外求食，说，哪里有食物呢？他知道黑暗的日子在他手边预备好了。
他为饼在外游荡，说，它在哪里？他知道黑暗的日子在他手边预备好了。

He wandereth abroad for bread, saying, Where is it? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.

急难困苦叫他害怕，而且胜了他，好像君王预备上阵一样。
困苦和痛苦要使他害怕；它们要战胜他，好像一个王预备好了打仗。

Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.

他伸手攻击神，坚固自己攻击那全能者，
因他伸出他的手攻击神，并且加强他自己攻击那全能者。
他伸手攻击 神，以骄傲攻击全能者，
For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.

他冲向他，就是他的脖子，攻击他盾牌的厚凸面；
他冲到他身上，就是到他的脖子上，到他盾牌的厚凸面上；
挺着颈项，用盾牌的厚凸面向全能者直闯；
He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:

是因他的脸蒙上脂油，腰积成肥肉。
因为他用脂油盖着他的脸，并把肥肉片放在肋旁。
是因他的脸蒙上脂油，腰积成肥肉。
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.

他住在荒凉的城市，住无人居住、将成乱堆的房屋。
他住在荒凉的城市里，住在要成为乱堆的，无人居住的房子里。
他曾住在荒凉城邑，无人居住、将成乱堆的房屋。
And he dwelleth in desolate cities, and in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.

他不能富足，财物不能常存，产业在地上也不加增。
他不会富足，他的实物不会持续，他在这地上也不会延长其完美。
他不得富足，财物不得常存，产业在地上也不加增。
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.

他不能从黑暗中出来。火焰要将他的枝子烧干；因他口中的气，他必走开。
他不会从黑暗中脱离；火焰会让他的枝子枯干，因他口中的气，他会离开。
他不得出离黑暗。火焰要将他的枝子烧干；因 神口中的气，他要灭亡（原文是走去）。
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.

不让他，这被欺骗的，信靠虚空，因虚空必成为他的报应。
不让那被欺骗去信靠虚空；因虚空会成为他的报酬。
他不用倚靠虚假欺哄自己，因虚假必成为他的报应。
Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.

在他的时候未到以前，这事必成就，他的枝子不能绿。
在他的时候没到之前，这事会成就，他的枝子不会绿。
他的日期未到之先，这事必成就；他的枝子不得青绿。
It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
- 33
他必像葡萄树，抖掉他未熟的葡萄，又如橄榄树，落下他的花。
他会像葡萄藤抖掉他未熟的葡萄，又会像橄榄树丢掉他的花。
他必像葡萄树的葡萄，未熟而落；又像橄榄树的花，一开而谢。
He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.

因为假冒伪善的集会必成荒场，火必烧尽受贿赂之人的帐幕。
因伪善者的集合要成为荒凉，火要消灭受贿之人的帐幕。
原来不敬虔之辈必无生育；受贿赂之人的帐棚必被火烧。
For the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

他们所怀的是毒害，所生的是虚假，肚子所预备的是诡诈。
他们怀的是毒害，生出来的是虚空，并且他们的肚子预备欺骗。
他们所怀的是毒害，所生的是罪孽；心里所预备的是诡诈。”
They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
